The
annoyance we feel as we take in the things we have to do for the day. The cause
of our sighs, heaves and hisses as tasks remain seemingly endless. What is this stress?
Stress is
the body’s response to danger or unfavorable conditions. It is our body’s way
of preparing us to take action. Even though it is scientifically proven, why
doesn’t it feel as simple as it is?
Stress, like
a lot of other things, starts in the brain. It is a response – to work,
situations, even to play. The brain effects release of hormones which have a
wide range of results like increase of heartbeat rate, tensing of muscles, a
‘sensitive’ mode and mood et cetera. Naturally, stress induces action which
produces goal achievement, better performance and other positive results. The
real problem is prolonged stress.
The body has
a threshold for stress and continuously or regularly exceeding it has harmful
effects on the body. Effects like heart attacks, insomnia, breathing problems,
high blood pressure, mood swings and a host of others. A few helpful measures
could be...
Identifying things that stress you
We are all different and that applies
to what affects us. Take time to identify potential and active stressors. HINT: It could even be people.
Avoid procrastination
Piling up stuff to do has never
helped anyone.
Make plans
Set goals even on a daily basis
–realistic ones though. Work towards them and in order of priority.
Rest
Some stress factors are unavoidable
but you can take out time to rest. Good sleep and short naps help a lot.
Professional help
This is very important especially in
cases of circumstance-related stress e.g divorce, abuse et cetera.
Perspective
Stress starts in the brain. Changing
how you think about a situation can really help e.g A traffic jam could also be
an opportunity to take a couple of traffic photos.
Pray
A little prayer can go a long way.

ReplyDeleteStress is inevitable for someone living with purpose on earth or someone with goals or dreams. But the only remedy to stress is your mind, the way you think and react to circumstances. Do not worry about the future, forget the past and live in the present life is beautiful, enjoy every moment and worry about absolutely nothing. Champman
