ARE CARTOONS GOOD FOR KIDS OR NOT

‘Auntie, it’s recycling...’
“What are you saying?... IT’S RECREATING”
‘Auntie, I’m sure... It’s recycling’
“This boy! You are annoying me!... Okay, let’s ask Auntie Gladys”

This was the ensuing scene between my teacher and I because she had marked me wrong on a question in an exam. She was really annoyed, but as a boy in Primary 4, who really didn’t care, I wanted  my score. Eventually, we would ask another teacher who confirmed my answer, to my utmost relish.

What gave a kid that much confidence to challenge his teacher’s age-old wisdom? Right then and there, if I was asked how I knew or came about it, a cartoon would’ve been all I had to go on. It was a cartoon I was following on a channel back then –Finley the Fire Engine. One of its episodes was on RECYCLING –making something new out of something old. Which was the question I had answered in the exam –And I was right😇.

I’ve met a lot of people, some of which believe that cartoons are for kids or lazy people (or at least that’s what they say😒). Even for kids, some parents do not really fancy the idea of letting them watch cartoons, but would rather they watched the news (it was painful💔). Kids should definitely engage in more wholesome, active and educative activities. But so are cartoons. The idea of cartoon-watching being childish for adults or being unhealthy for kids seems somewhat misguided. Not overlooking the harms of excess, but pointing out that it applies to everything.

Cartoons are a delightful pastime, undeniable destressers, and can be quite educating while serving the other two purposes. It is quite surprising, the amount of information, facts, and even life lessons contained in them. They also serve as creativity-inducers and imagination-boosters.

Nevertheless, it is advised for parents to watch with kids as some cartoons can have inappropriate  content such as violence, foul language et cetera. Applicable to grownups also, is the measure of time-limiting which implies limiting the amount of time spent watching cartoons as it can be unhealthy and promote unproductivity.

Be more active as an individual, kid or grown. Read and learn. Indulge yourself in cartoons if you fancy them cos they aren’t bad for you. Personally, I’m a huge fan of cartoons (especially anime). They have helped me linguistically, creativitywise and emotionally. I could be your go-to guy for recommendations from my years of experience😂😂.

I WOULD LOVE TO HEAR YOUR OPINIONS ON WHETHER THEY ARE FOR KIDS OR NOT AND IF THEY ARE GOOD FOR KIDS OR NOT.

  1. I think why people say cartoon are for kids is because of the fact that its not real and also the super power stuffs. But for me am a huge fan of the cartoon network and I don't think that's ever gonna change

  3. In my opinion, Regular show has been the most watched cartoon in the world. The Asians,Americans,Europeans even Africans watch the regular show and just 30% of them are kids if I'm not mistaken. So my point is cartoons are not meant for kids only, they are meant for all for fun and educative purpose, nobody is too big laugh and learn. By the ways Nice article 3b.

  6. Like you said cartoons are a great way to boost imaginations
Cartoons have both positive and negative effects. In essence,I'll just say we( both children and adults) control the amount of time we spend on watching cartoons

  7. Lol.
    Here's the twist.
WeveW come to tag some shows as animations and some as cartoon...as an aporoaap to distinguish maturity from childish.
Personally....that distinction in itself is childish.

They're both educative, uplifting and a lot more.

Lol! Some speak of cartoons being unrealistic eg powerpuff girls etc....but it's all fictional, the same stunt applies to your "matired" Superman , flash, Spiderman etc

The truth is that most of these toons we're not just designed for laughter and delight....but very educational.
Most kids pick up their career goals from watching cartoons....and a lot more.

    A very beautiful post.
I never get bored on 3BsWall🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
