PLAYING IN THE RAIN

It’s finally here again. The season of morning mist and dew, chilly nights, occasional showers and frequent downpours. A favourite for many and not so much for others.

Morning few picture

This particular rainy season is welcomed, not like the others, but during a globally critical period - the months of face masks, sanitizers and social distancing. This period has seen the influx and efflux of information of various kinds and intent, at such an alarming rate typical only of times of crisis and confusion.

Discovered cures then immediate debunks, home remedies then warnings not to indulge in them, possible preventive measures then the end result of such measure – such information and much more are making rounds. Not to forget the massive love from Disease Control Centers.

Amidst all this, we can appreciate the new season and look at a few things it could have in store and possible approaches to them.

   Decrease in temperature
The occasional showers of the rainy season and other factors that we can look up in our geography textbooks, result in decrease in average temperatures(cold weather). It will be advisable to clothe oneself warmly as this might not really be the best time to catch a cold or develop other avoidable ‘low temperature-related’ issues. If you must play in the rain, do well to warm yourself up afterwards.

   Covid-19
Obviously not a product of the rainy season. The pandemic outbreak is still the topic and situation of the day. Prevention remains the only prescribed cure. That the virus thrives in colder temperatures is no cause for alarm as social distancing, hand washing and sanitizing et cetera remain effective regardless of season.

Mosquitoes
Yes... those guys. The rainy season is the period that favours increase in mosquitoes. Effectively getting rid of breeding sites like open containers or drums and puddles, will go a long way. Corona virus might be having claims in hundreds of thousands but the malaria millions are still counting.

Bright plan picture

On the bright side, the cooler temperatures are a very welcomed relief to the discomfort the hotter weathers had caused. The lockdown has made us review a whole lot of things – things we felt we couldn’t do without, how we handled our affairs, our outlooks on issues et cetera. A lot of positive and progress-inclined changes are bound to follow this pandemic’s end. And the mosquitoes?... who doesn’t need the extra company?

Do you also prefer the rainy season to our brown winter? What else could the period have in store for us and how do we go about it?

  5. Nice one Sir, you are doing well.

I prefer Brown winter because I can snap as many pictures that I want...
Also this period(rainy season) have better practice of Agriculture in store for us, as you know that our nation is best at it. During this period, lots of crops are enjoyed the most e.g crops fruits and vegetables. If you can't afford a farm, get a small garden in the compound and plant some vegetables so that you will get them anytime you need to use them instead of struggling to get to the market which is not secure because of the Virus that's around. At least, the amount of people dieing of hunger will reduce. Nevertheless, there's availability of water supply for those experiencing water crisis at home. Insufficient water supply and inadequate sanitation will invite diseases, bacteria, viruses because of unclean foods and surfaces. Observing a good hygiene during this pandemic needs adequate supply of water, and we are hereby referring to the less privileged.

  6. Nice one
The chilly nights is the sweetness of this season. I think that is the only thing I enjoy about it.
Let's not even talk about how annoying it is to be beaten by the rain when you didn't see it coming and to stay back home cause of rain. However, the goodness of this season cannot be over emphasized.

    1. Very funny... And very true. I've had terrible experiences with the rain at what would've been major events of my life... But it's still my best season.
