BIKE LESSONS

In Junior Secondary School, many of my friends told me that one learning to ride a bike, would most certainly sustain a telltale injury. They showed me scars on their hands, thighs, legs and other parts of their bodies.

Sometime later, I would pride myself in being self-taught. But while I was learning, my dad would correct some mistakes I made or bring to my notice, things I was to take note of. I found some parallelism between them and life so I’m sharing my bike lessons.

Pedal forwards not backwards( get moving)
Be it biking or anything in life, we will get nowhere if we don’t move. Sometimes we will need people to push us so we can start and begin to get adjusted to pedalling on our own. Other times, we will have to do it ourselves but no matter the case, we need to get moving.

Stop looking down( eyes straight ahead)
This should be a common problem with everyone learning to ride. We feel that keeping our eyes on the pedals will keep us moving. The problem with looking down or dwelling on things past( failures or successes), is that we don’t see what’s ahead – we’ll miss out on opportunities, repeat a lot of mistakes and settle for little, if we don’t look up.

          It’s okay if you fall
Failing doesn’t make you a failure, quitting does. If you fall, get back up, get moving and keep at it.

          Use your brakes
Forgetting to use brakes can be very dangerous. Braking prevents accidents and slows you down enough to think and act your way out of tight situations. Some times in life, you’ll need to take a break, slow down and for awhile, take things slow. It could open your mind to many creative ways of solving a problem.

You can stunt( but be careful)
Risks can be very rewarding at times. It does not encourage carelessness but risks are necessary evils  to get certain benefits or experiences. Try new things.

         Enjoy the ride
Learn from the past and don’t let it stop your moving forward. Prepare for the future but don’t let it scare you. Live in the present and don’t let either take that  away from you. The last line of a poem I came across reads...
‘... before you die, live’.
Enjoy this ride called life.

Three guys on rocks picture

These are a few funny things I took note of. One last one though. Remember what my friends said about injuries before learning?  I didn’t get any. I have some scars, yes,  but not from cycling. So ...
         Not every rule/fact is true!

  4. At the first sight I thought it was all about bicycle life and stuffs like that, but just before the mid of the post my view diverged. This is a regular activity we all passes through. It. So let's not view it in a plain mode rather let's live the life those lessons we've already stocked in our pocket.

Not every fact is true, especially the mentality of "We can't be perfect" We can only if we want.
    Nice Post.

Next time try to make the topic a bit long sentence (For SEO sake)

  5. When on a bike, look left and right, and right again before crossing the road... Therefore, weigh your disadvantages and advantages before making any decision in life. Choose Wisely.
