Woke up on the wrong side of the bed!
A common
phrase used when a day is not really going as you would like.
It makes a lot of sense to switch off the
lights and just jump into dreamland, but how you sleep has a lot to say on your
reaping the full benefits of the unconscious exercise you are about starting.
An important
thing to note is that the best sleeping position for a person is dependent on a
variety of factors like health conditions and situations like pregnancy.
Stomach sleeping
All of the ‘humanly
possible’ sleeping positions are pretty self-explanatory from their names(humanly
possible because you’d agree that some sleeping positions are not really human).
This sleeping
position involves sleeping on one’s stomach. About 7 percent of people sleep
this way. This position is actually considered the worst when compared to the
others. It is a really good one for snorers as it helps in reducing snoring but
this position puts pressure on your neck and spine leading to neck and back
pains.
It also
increases wrinkling as the face is pressed on the pillow or bed. Numbness and
tingling sensations are common from this position.
Side sleeping
Side sleeping
positions reduce back and neck pain. They are also good for people who snore or
suffer apnea(cessation of breathing) while sleeping. Studies show that the
brain eliminates toxins more effectively in this sleeping position.
Sleeping on
the right is better for people with heart failure conditions.
The left
side is better for people experiencing acid reflux and is also the position
recommended for pregnant women. Other positions have negative effects on the
fetus.
Side sleeping
however also has wrinkling effects. There also tend to be uncomfortable
sensations in the arm bearing the body’s weight.
Back sleeping
This position is actually considered the best
option. Yes, it seems the most scary too as many people feel it conveys the
feeling of being in a coffin. It also doesn’t help matters that sleepers in
this position are more likely to have nightmares than the others.
Anatomy-wise,
this position achieves even weight distribution. The face is safe from
wrinkling too.
It is not
recommended however, for people with back or neck pain. Or for people who snore
or suffer apnea, as the airway can collapse in this position.
There are
many other sleeping positions, most of which are variants of these three and
with similar effects. How you sleep tells a lot on the quality of sleep you
get.
Choose the
best one for you and your health. Every side you wake to, can be a good side if
you make a good choice.

DeleteTriple B on it again. Do I even have a sleeping position? I may sleep in the back or side position and wake up in "whatever the word for it position".
ReplyDeleteHaha... Moving from one sleeping position to another is very common... I think back sleeping should be the one less likely to change
DeleteI agree 😁😁😁
ReplyDeleteSome sleeping positions are not human

DeleteBack sleeping, people also say you won't be able to fight witches and wizards if they attack you, lol but I think that's the best sleeping position. Some people sef, I don't understand their sleeping position
